SPECIAL WORKMAN – MAINTENANCE

Umzinyathi District Municipality an equal opportunity employer, with its head office based in Dundee, hereby invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the following positions:

SPECIAL WORKMAN – MAINTENANCE

(6 POSTS)

Salary: Post level B3 (R192 953.99 - R225 855.40) per annum

(Fringe Benefits: Include inter alia, 13th cheque, pension fund, medical aid scheme, housing allowances.)

REQUIREMENTS: The incumbent must have a Grade 12 and NQF Level 4 certificate in Plumbing will be added to an advantage. At least 2 - 3 years’ experience working in water and sanitary systems experience. Knowledge with Occupational Health Safety Act, fluency in IsiZulu and English and a Driver’s license are some of the requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

·Perform planned and unplanned maintenance tasks with respect to the potable water infrastructure within area of responsibility.

·Perform minor maintenance, service and repair work on infrastructure without supervision and according to procedures.

·Maintains all equipment all equipment, portable equipment and tools in good clean order, reporting all defects to the supervisor and removal of such equipment from use.

·Executes the daily maintenance tasks as per schedule issued to him by his supervisor and the cleaning of the machinery.

·Reports any breakdowns and/or defects immediately to his supervisor

·Completing a check list before operating the Fork lift.

·Gives input into the compiling of reports for any degrading incidents for submission to the supervisor.

·Operate the machinery as per manufacture operation instruction and within the operating limits of the machine.

·Record any degrading incidents and report this immediately to authorities and his supervisor and assist to correct where required.

·Adherence to quality and quantity of work performed and safety policies and procedure on a daily basis.

·Sound knowledge of pipe line and infrastructure

·To work on instruction with limited supervision

·Ability to co-operate with other staff

·Be prepared to work long hours

·Ability to apply problem solving techniques.
