HUMAN RESOURCES PRACTITIONER: LABOUR RELATIONS

DEPARTMENT: CORPORATE SERVICES

REFERENCE: 014/2018

SALARY: POST LEVEL D3 (R375 372.20 TO 419 576.020)per annum

(Fringe Benefits: Include inter alia, 13th cheque, pension fund, medical aid scheme, housing allowances).

REQUIREMENTS: The incumbent must have a National Diploma/Degree in Human Resource Management/Labour Relations/Industrial Psychology or equivalent tertiary qualifications. At least 2-3 years’ experience working in Human Resource environment. Knowledge of local government legislations and broader knowledge on Labour legislations and regulations. Computer literacy, fluency in IsiZulu and English and a Driver’s license are some of the requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

ØProviding labour relations support service and personnel administration to the municipality,

ØRepresenting the municipality in disciplinary hearings, appeals focus discussions, grievances,

ØEstablishing and maintaining appropriate usage and recording of all documentations related to industrial relations policies and procedures,

ØAdvising management and labour as well as relevant structures on new developments in labour relations issues, collective agreement and policy,

ØFacilitating meetings between union and line function managers on labour relations issues mutual interest,

ØTaking minutes at meetings convened or chaired by Corporate Services on labour relations issues,

ØEnsuring proper implementation of discipline and grievance procedure,

ØFacilitating or coordinating workshops on grievance and disciplinary issues including participating at induction workshops when required,

ØAssisting the Human Resource Manager with the co-ordination, convening of meetings with unions and to compile and timeously distribute agendas and minutes thereof,

ØPreparing and submitting reports to management committee and other sub-committees.
