ACCOUNTANT INCOME (1 POSTS)

DEPARTMENT:Budget and Treasury Office

SALARY:1st Notch of Post Level D4: (R456 284.46 To R513 358.08) Per Annum

FRINGE BENEFITS:Include inter alia, 13th cheque, pension fund, medical aid scheme,housing allowances).

REQUIREMENTS: The incumbent must have Grade 12, Diploma/B Degree in Finance or Equivalent qualifications, Knowledge of Local Government Acts and broader financial regulations, At least 3-5 years’ relevant experience, Valid driver’s license, Computer Literacy, Knowledge of applicable acts and By-laws, fluency in Isizulu and English.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

  • Control the billing process by running the pre-bill calculation process, identify and correct all errors on the billing list, returning errors to the meter controller for further action.
  • Re-run the final bill calculation after final meter readings are corrected, process the bill run, ensuring correct billing by comparison to previous months billing.
  • Send electronic copy of billing to our printing service provider for printing of statements.
  • Ascertain and control the correctness of billing information for customers by preparing and journalizing all miscellaneous charges types.
  • Control all credit note application received from customer care by ensuring that all documentation is correct and accurate. Calculate the amount due and process credit note into FMS.
  • Verifying the correctness of all credit notes and adjusting bills where required in order to ensure customer’s accounts are updated before the monthly billing cycle.
  • Attend to and finalize complex and difficult customer queries and bill adjustment.
  • Perform cashier audit for monies received on our water account.
  • Assist in preparation of receipts for sales and prepare monthly invoices to our sundry debtors.
